Job Posting – Building Security

St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd. (SJSEL) is currently seeking individuals who are energetic, dependable and would enjoy working in a fast paced and exciting environment.

The successful individuals will provide Building Security for St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd. in accordance with the company’s service standards and applicable operational standards.

Building Security Responsibilities

  • Report directly to Operations and Event Logistics Managers during business hours
  • Use email/phone to communicate with Event Logistics staff
  • Carry and communicate via cell phone and radio
  • Monitor video surveillance system
  • Adhere to St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd staff policies
  • Follow evacuation protocol
  • Ensure Liquor Regulations are enforced
  • Assist injured patron and prepare/submit incident reports
  • Wear complete uniform as issued for every shift & keep in good condition
  • Accept deliveries as per delivery policy
  • Responsible for building equipment keys
  • Open loading doors when necessary
  • Issue temporary access stickers and sign in visitors

During Regular Shift (8am-4pm, 4pm-12am) – additional

  • Open and close Mile One Centre and St. John’s Convention Centre as required
  • Complete security checks and sign off on security log as per schedule
  • Monitor ice rental groups and spectators
  • Directly address ice rental issues as they arise and communicate issues to management
  • Assist skate patrol/security staff/ticket takers during skating and rentals when necessary
  • Communicate with management, maintenance department and cleaners as required

During Overnight Shift (12am-8am) – additional

  • Complete security checks and sign off on security logs as per schedule
  • Communicate with management, maintenance department and cleaners as required

During Event (Security) – additional

  • Hold building keys in your possession throughout your shift
  • Ensure patrons enter and exit in a safe manner
  • Ensure Liquor Regulations are enforced
  • Ensure food policies are enforced
  • Follow lost child protocols
  • Remain in your position until relieved
  • Assist injured patrons, contact team Leaders/St. John’s Ambulance and prepare/submit incident reports
  • Attend pre-event meeting
  • Enforce camera policies
  • Emergency Exit Doors: Ensure patrons are aware of the no re-entry policy prior to them exiting
  • Dressing Room Security: Ensure access to only those with proper credentials.

All employees must have the ability to relay and enforce SJSEL policies and successful candidates must provide a certificate of conduct. The rate of pay for the position is $11.65 per hour.
