St. John’s Basketball Schedule Set for Inaugural Season – Home Opener on December 1st
The National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) has announced their 2017-2018 Schedule.
St. John’s, the newest member of the NBL will play their first game on the road November 18th when they tip off against the Island Storm of Prince Edward Island. The road trip continues with four more games as they make stops in Cape Breton, Moncton, Halifax and Saint John.
Newfoundland and Labrador basketball fans will have their first glimpse of the province’s newest pro team when they hit the court at Mile One Centre on December 1st for a weekend series against the Niagara River Lions. The St. John’s franchise will finish their first homestand with games against the defending champions, London Lightning on December 5th and 6th.
St. John’s will play a 40 game schedule in their inaugural season, 20 home games at Mile One Centre and 20 games on the road as a part of the NBL’s Central Division.

Keynotes for 2017-2018 St. John’s Schedule:
- First game in franchise history – Friday, November 18th vs. Island Storm
- First home game – Friday, December 1st vs Niagara River Lions
- Last home game of regular season – Monday, April 2nd vs. Niagara River Lions
- St. John’s will be a part of the Central Division which will consist of the following teams: London Lightning, Niagara River Lions, Windsor Express, Kitchener-Waterloo Titans
- The Atlantic Division will consist of the Cape Breton Highlanders, Halifax Hurricanes, Moncton Magic, Island Storm and Saint John Riptide
The St. John’s franchise will be announcing further details regarding tickets, team name, staff and player acquisitions in the near future.
