Human Resources & Safety Coordinator (1 Year Replacement)
St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd. is currently seeking an energetic and focused individual, capable of succeeding in the dual role of Human Resources and Safety Coordinator for a one year replacement position. The incumbent will work closely with the Human Resources & Office Manager and employees across all departments to ensure compliance with safe work practices and policies. We are looking for a leader who aspires to have the best safety record and safety culture in the industry.
The Human Resources & Safety Coordinator will be required to perform the following duties:
- Assist with recruiting, staffing and training logistics
- Schedule and conduct employee interviews
- Facilitate and assist in orientation and training for employees
- Oversee uniform issue and inventory
- Maintain employee files and prepare accumulated time sheets
- Work with the OHS Committee to further develop safety program initiatives
- Conduct risk assessments to investigate incidents and near misses and propose recommendations
- Develop, implement and audit safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance with applicable legislation
- Provide training and mentorship to staff on best safety practices
- File all appropriate documents to regulatory bodies (ie. Workplace NL, Service NL OHS Division, etc.)
- Complete and maintain all paperwork with regards to work-related incidents
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (ie. Service NL, St. John’s Regional Fire Department, etc.)
- Maintain membership in applicable safety or environmental associations in order to remain informed of new developments and trends
- Provide support to the Human Resources & Office Manager and Manager of Building Operations, as required
- Other duties as periodically assigned
The ideal candidate would have:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
- Minimum of 2-5 years prior related OHS and/or HR experience
- A very strong safety culture and working knowledge of all applicable acts, codes, standards, and regulations
- The desired candidate will be a positive leader with the ability to effectively manage a diverse work group and be able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent would be an asset
- Proficient in the entire MS Office Suite
- Excellent presentation and leadership skills
